A Very Personal Message to the Buyer of the iPhone 3GS Supreme

Via Gizmodo &  jesus@gizmodo.com

I saw this post at Gizmodo and it amused & disgusted me at the same time. I still don't know if this is confirmed as real but....WTF?

Dear anonymous buyer of the $3,164,000 iPhone 3GS Supreme, the most expensive and tacky cellphone in the world: You are a tasteless assclown. Sincerely, Me.

P.S. I don't care that you are a rich Australian business man in the gold mining industry. I don't care that you are so rich that paying $3,164,000 for this ridiculous piece of gold and diamond tackiness probably doesn't even register in your bank account. And I don't care that this garish brick is made with 271 grams of 22k gold, 136 flawless color F diamonds for the bezel, 53 diamonds for the logo, and one 7.1 carat diamond as the navigation button. This ostentatious piece of shiny crap that should have never happened. I'm not even taking into consideration that we are in the middle of a worldwide economic crisis, with millions suffering around the world. It's just that it sucks golden donkey balls, no matter how you look at it.
And you are still a tasteless assclown. [Stuart Hughes via Like Cool]

Think Different...Macs @ The Dumpster, iPhone next?

Think Different. That was part of Apple's branding for a very long time. I've never had anything personal against Macs and they're creators and I even tolerated their Fan-Boys. But, the iPhone changed all that. I've never scene a company force feed a provider like Apple did with AT&T. (and continues to do so.)
I love the hardware, I love the OS, the iPhone is an amazing device. But, when the iPhone was released, it was locked to AT&T's network, which I normally understand IF the handset is subsidized. The iPhone wasn't (at first) so you had to pay full cost for the device and sign a contract w/ The DeathStar. Bogus.
Even Microsoft Mobile Handsets are not entirely under the control of M$ and you can jailbreak an iPhone to work on another GSM carrier. But that's not the point. If I shell out $600 for what's basically a computer, I want to use it with the provider of choice.
What if I bought a Dell Netbook & it came with 6 months free AOL and I may be an idiot so I sign up. Then, I discover how much AOL sucks and I want to go with Comcast...but Dell has a contract w/ AOL so they won't let use my NetBook on any network other than AOL's. That's BULLSH*T!
Apple has also expanded their control over OSX to be only put on their devices they deem worthy as shown by the recent

Psystar Case. So, I was taking out my trash last night and saw two Macs sitting next to the dumpster and thought I would express myself and how many people think different. Enjoy.

Phone Arena's In Depth Review of the Motorola Droid

Although I'm no fan of Big Red AKA Verizon Wireless, I am impressed that they released not only a pretty cool Android phone, they didn't cripple the WiFi on it like other smartphones they have released. PhoneArena.com has released the most in depth video review of this handset that I've seen so far. Hit the jump for more!

HTC HD2 hands

HTC HD2 hands on

via Boy Genius on November 11th, 2009 at 11:21am

HTC was nice enough to hook us up with an HD2 unit a couple of days ago, and we just have to get this out of the way… Wow. This is really Windows Mobile? From the gorgeous 4.3″ capacitive touch display to HTC’s Sense UI, it’s really an amazing handset. The display and HTC’s UI compliment Windows Mobile 6.5’s icon set and honestly, it’s almost usable. Almost. The only thing off the bat we’re not feeling is the viciously sharp bezel around the camera lens. It scratched our desk. We’ll report back with a detailed overview in a bit, but in the meantime, check out some photos after the break!

Nokia N900 is now shipping!

via Endgadgetmobile.com

Nokia's Maemo-based future has begun: the N900 is shipping. According to Nokia CEO, Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo, the eagerly awaited handset is now en route to at least some pre-order customers. We'll soon see if this new generation of Nokia smartphones will be enough to generate the type of mass-market / high-margin appeal that Nokia needs at the top end of its product portfolio or if it's just a tentative first step on a potentially wobbly new platform.

Update: Nokia's official blog says to expect the Maemo 5 device to land in "Europe, the Middle-East, Russia and North America" shortly. However, it won't be compatible with the new 3G SIM cards from 3 in the UK, Ireland, Sweden, Denmark and Austria until a software update hits sometime later this year.

[Thanks, Juhana J.]

T-Mobile Hangs Up On myFaves

via Phone Scoop
Today T-Mobile confirmed that it is phasing out its myFaves set of calling plans. The company said in an email to Phone Scoop, "T-Mobile’s new Even More plans, which feature options for unlimited calling, text and data service, have taken the place of myFaves unlimited calling feature. T-Mobile continues to offer the myFaves home screen, at no additional charge, across our broad portfolio of phones as a way for customers to easily connect with their Fave Five through voice, text and e-mail. Also, customers currently subscribing to the myFaves unlimited calling feature can choose to continue to benefit from that plan." Alltel was first to offer such a calling plan, and called it MyCircle. T-Mobile began offering myFaves in 2006. MyCircle and myFaves were eventually followed by similar offerings from both AT&T (A-List) and Verizon Wireless (re-packaged MyCircle after Alltel acquisition).
